Episode No. 1

Xiao Shiyi Lang, a notorious thief, steals a valuable steed named Snowflower from the Yangs’ Ranch. Then Feng Siniang, Xiao’s partner, demands 30,000 taels of silver as ransom for the horse from Yang Kaitai, the young master of the Yangs’ Ranch. Yang falls in love with Feng at first sight.

The Deer Carver is a legendary saber which is in the possession of the Shen family. In order to steal the saber, Xiao tricks Yang into following him all the way to Shen Manor and creates create a disturbance to distract the guards. During the disturbance, Xiao has a romantic encounter with Shen Bijun, who is the only daughter of Shen Manor and the most beautiful woman in the martial world. However, Shen is engaged and to be married in a few days. Her fiancé is Lian Chengbi, the young master of the prestigious Lian Manor.

Meanwhile, Count Carefree is also interested in the saber. He sends his apprentice Little Master and two of his subordinates, Fairy Hawk and Snow Eagle to steal the saber. Little Master successfully steals the saber, but Xiao in turn takes it from her. Little Master also tries to kidnap Shen Bijun, but Xiao thwarts her scheme and rescues Shen.

 

Episode No. 2

After witnessing the Deer Carver’s magic power to mend itself, Xiao escorts the saber and Bijun back to Shen Manor. Xiao never tells Bijun of his real name. Lady Shen, Bijun’s grandmother, is intent on giving the saber safely to Lian Chengbi, her future son-in-law. To achieve this goal, she hides the fact that the saber has been returned. Then she claims that the Deer Carver has been stolen by Xiao Shiyi Lang, the Great Bandit, not knowing that Xiao is the person who escorted the saber and her grand daughter home.

The Shens hold a grand horse race. Lian wins the race and also wins Snowflower as the prize. Saying she wants to see what it feels like to ride a fine steed like Snowflower, Bijun rides the horse and enters the woods. While everyone is craning their necks and waiting for Bijun to return, Lady Shen gives the saber to Lian secretly. However, Bijun is kidnapped by Count Carefree’s people in the woods. Fortunately, one of the coach’s wheels is stuck in the road. Bijun seizes the opportunity and escapes by jumping into a lake.

 

Episode No. 3

Xiao happens to pass by the woods and pulls Bijun out from the lake. Xiao takes her to his hut and tells her his real name. Learning about Xiao’s real identity, Bijun feels guilty about helping her grandmother frame Xiao for stealing the saber. She returns to Shen Manor and asks Lady Shen to clear Xiao’s name. Finding out that Bijun may have fallen in love with Xiao, Lady Shen is greatly alarmed. During the night, Xiao sneaks into Shen Manor to see Bijun, who is suffering from a fever, but he is ambushed by Lady Shen and her people. While protecting Xiao from Lady Shen’s attack, Bijun passes out.

Mistakenly assuming that Xiao is being kept in Shen Manor, Feng goes to see Lady Shen and asks her to release Xiao. But it turns out that Feng herself is captured by Lady Shen. Luckily, Feng manages to escape and on the way out runs into Xiao, who is escorting Bijun back to Shen Manor once again.

 

Episode No. 4

        Finding herself in love with Xiao, Bijun tells Lady Shen that she does not wish to marry Lian Chenbi. However, Lady Shen tells Bijun about the reality of the financial situation of Shen Manor and about all of the financial support Lian has given them secretly in the past few years. Driven by a sense of responsibility, Bijun decides to proceed with the wedding. However, Lian Chengjin, Chengbi’s younger sister, overhears part of the conversation between Lady Shen and Bijun and learns about Bijun’s intention to break off the engagement. She goes home and tries to persuade Chengbi to cancel the wedding, but Chengbi refuses.

        On the day of the wedding, Bijun is again kidnapped by Count Carefree and his followers on the way to Lian Manor. Luckily, Xiao fights them off. Xiao tries to persuade Bijun to elope with him, but she refuses and proceeds to Lian Manor. Devastated by this rejection, Xiao disrupts the wedding and attacks Lian to see whether he is sincere about his affection for the bride.

 

Episode No. 5

        For several days after the wedding, Xiao is depressed and refuses to eat. Feng tries to cheer him up but to no avail.

Suspecting that Bijun may not be a virgin, Lian decides not to consummate their marriage. He makes up an excuse and sleeps in a separate room. Meanwhile, he sends two of his senior assistants, White Willow and Green Willow, to investigate the background of the man who causes trouble at his wedding.

Yang Kaitai goes to visit Feng, who happens to be drunk at that time. Because of some mix-ups, Yang is led to believe that Feng is in love. Thrilled by this discovery, Yang loves Feng more than ever.

After being set up many times, Xiao finds out that Little Master is behind all of this. Her purpose is to create a conflict between Xiao and Lian. Lian also suspects that there is a conspiracy. In order to find out about the truth, Lian arranges for Bijun to return to Shen Manor without his company, hoping to coax his enemies out of their hiding. As expected, Bijun is ambushed by Little Master on the way.

 

Episode No. 6

        Bijun is kidnapped by Little Master again and rescued by Xiao again.

One of Count Carefree’s subordinates kidnaps Lian Chengjin and takes her to Carefree Cavern. Count Carefree is very angry because this is not part of his plan. He orders Fairy Hawk to escort Chengjin back to Lian Manor.

        Little Master tricks Bijun’s nanny into leading her out of Xiao’s hut and into a valley. Chengbi pretends to fall into the trap set up by Little Master and get caught in a net. While trapped in the net, he sees how Little Master and Snow Eagle harass Bijun, but he pretends to be unconscious. Spotting Chengbi’s blinking eyes, Bijun sees through his pretense and is mortified by his indifference to her misery. Xiao arrives in time to rescue Bijun but is injured by one of Little Master’s hidden weapons. Lian demands that Xiao leave. Xiao has no choice but to do what he is told. After returning home, Xiao faints from losing too much blood.

 

Episode No. 7

        Reluctant to talk to Chengbi, Bijun pretends to be ill and unconscious. To convince Bijun of Chengbi’s devotion to her, Lady Shen asks Chengbi to go to Mount Doom to look for the Golden Baby fish, which is said to have amazing healing power. Regardless of Lady Shen’s objections, Bijun goes to visit Xiao, who was injured by Little Master. Xiao tells Bijun that she should not have let Chengbi go to Mount Doom because it is where Carefree Cavern is located. Learning how dangerous Mount Doom is, Bijun is worried and pleads Xiao to help Chengbi. As a matter of fact, the so-called Golden Wawa Fish are nothing but a hoax created by Count Carefree. Xiao and Lian fight Count Carefree together and successfully protect Bijun. However, White Willow and Green Willow, who went with them, are caught by Count Carefree and stuck in Carefree Cavern.

        Xiao finds the Wordless Heavenly Book left to him by his father. He wishes to learn the secret written in the book. On the other hand, Kaitai starts to suspect that his father may have something to do with Count Carefree.

 

Episode No. 8

        Chengjin steals Snow Eagle’s talisman, which was given to him by Count Carefree. Fairy Hawk, Snow Eagle’s brother, has to retrieve the talisman, or Snow Eagle will be punished by Count Carefree. Fairy Hawk sneaks into Lian Manor to look for the talisman, but he is captured by Chengbi. Chengbi promises Fairy Hawk that he will have the talisman back if he helps to release White Willow and Green Willow from Carefree Cavern. Fairy Hawk accepts.

        Xiao learns from the Wordless Heavenly Book that his ancestors are the guardians of the Deer Carver and that now he inherits the same responsibility. To fulfill his responsibility of guarding the saber, he goes to Lian Manor, asking Chengbi to let him work as a guard. However, Chengbi assumes that Xiao comes solely for Bijun and shows his mistrust of her on many occasions, which leaves Bijun disheartened.

        Fairy Hawk releases White Willow and Green Willow but is seriously injured by Count Carefree. The two old men take him back to Lian Manor with them. Xiao helps to treat Fairy Hawk’s injury.

 

Episode No. 9

        Feng comes to Lian Manor to look for Xiao. When they meet, Xiao tells her about his newfound identity as a guardian of the Deer Carver. Chengbi eavesdrops on their conversation and learns about the true purpose of Xiao’s insisting on staying in Lian Manor.

        Count Carefree leads an attack against Lian Manor. Claiming that it is safer for Bijun to hide in a safe place, Chengbi asks Bijun to stay in a secret glass room, where Chengbi keeps the Deer Carver. Meanwhile, Chengbi hides behind a wall to see whether Bijun knows how to pull out the saber from its scabbard, as he has not been able to pull out the saber himself. Bijun sees through his intention and is again disheartened by his mistrust of her.

        Snow Eagle kidnaps Chengjin. Mistakenly assuming Bijun to be the person kidnapped, Xiao rushes to her rescue. Because of this mix-up, Chengjin assumes that Xiao has a crush on her.

        Chengbi captured Little Master and keeps her captive, intending to use her as a tool to deal with Xiao and Count Carefree.

 

Episode No. 10

        Chengbi puts Little Master in the net and hangs her from the top of a hill as a bait to attract Count Carefree. Count Carefree does come for Little Master, but he breaks out of the trap set up by Chengbi.

In the night Count Carefree sneaks into Bijun’s chamber and demands that she tell him where Little Master is being kept. Hearing the noise in her chamber, Chengbi assumes that Bijun is making out with Xiao and in rage slaps her in the face. Bijun is disheartened once again. Xiao tries to comfort her and assures her that he will protect her.

Caught off guard by White Willow and Green Willow’s poison dust, Count Carefree tries to escape. Yet a moment later, Chengbi catches Yang Tianzan sniffing around in the medicine chamber of Lian Manor, which arouses suspicions in Chengbi’s mind.

Chengbi forces Little Master to draw a layout map of Carefree Cavern and lead them to enter the cavern. Upon hearing about this, Xiao and Bijun go along as well.

 

Episode No. 11

        In Carefree Cavern, regardless of Chengbi’s furious objection, Bijun saves Xiao’s arm with her virgin’s blood, which leaves Chengbi humiliated.

After being treated by Fairy Hawk and regaining consciousness, Snow Eagle asks his brother to return to Carefree Cavern with him, but Fairy Hawk refuses. Assuming that Chengjin’s seduction is the reason why Fairy Hawk has chosen to stay in Lian Manor rather than be with his own brother, Snow Eagle places all of the blame on Chengjin.

Chengbi writes out a divorce paper, and Bijun leaves Lian Manor. Wishing to keep this union alive, Bijun’s nanny leaves the divorce letter in Bijun’s room. Seeing the letter on the dresser. Chengbi feels encouraged and assumes that Bijun is willing to give their marriage another try. He rides out and tries to catch up with Bijun only to catch Xiao meeting Bijun joyously. Feeling deceived and outraged, Chengbi tears up the divorce paper and dooms Bijun to be stuck in this marriage forever.

Little Master along with her subordinates slaughters all of the people in Shen Manor, except Lady Shen who disappears. Afraid that Bijun cannot take the blow, Xiao conceals the news from her and arranges for her to stay somewhere else temporarily.

 

Episode No. 12

        Xiao goes to Shen Manor and finds Lady Shen in a secret cave. Xiao reveals to her his identity as a guardian of the Deer Carver and leaves a bottle of medicine for her. Unfortunately, Little Master follows Xiao into the cave. Upon Xiao leaves, she captures Lady Shen and takes her away.

        Kaitai goes to Lian Manor, asking Chengbi to help him look for his father, who has been missing for several days. Chengbi shows him the Deer Carver, which is actually a fake. While fighting for the faked saber, Xiao and Count Carefree were swept into the water by the force of an explosion created by Chengbi. Luckily, Xiao is rescued by Erquotou, one of Chengbi’s senior servants.

        Count Carefree cuts off Snow Eagle’s arms and initiates him into Carefree’s devious system of kung fu.

        Xiao returns to the inn where Feng and Bijun are staying. Feng and Bijun work together to treat Xiao’s wounds, which he suffered during the explosion.

        White Willow and Green Willow are captured by Count Carefree and kept in the Doll House. There they meet Bijun’s nanny and Lady Shen, whose limbs have been broken by Count Carefree. Then Count Carefree releases Bijun’s nanny into the woods. Chengjin and Fairy Hawk find her and take her back to Lian Manor.

 

Episode No. 13

        Feng finds Yang Tianzan on the top of a cliff, whose has twisted his ankle.

        Chengbi makes Bijun’s nanny lead her back to Shen Manor and tell her about how Lady Shen was betrayed by Xiao and taken into captivity by Count Carefree. Bijun is so outraged that she stabs Xiao. Little Master seizes the chance to attack Bijun. Though seriously injured, Xiao shields Bijun with his own body and gets stabbed again by Little Master.

        Yang Tianzan objects to Kaitai’s plan to marry Feng, but Kaitai is adamant about it, and Siniang accepts his proposal.

        Little Master tries her best to torture Xiao, who is already seriously injured. Xiao pretends to have a romantic interest in Little Master, so that Bijun might want to leave out of disgust. Seeing through his intention, Bijun refuses to leave without him.

        Believing that Xiao has been expelled by Chengbi from Lian Manor because of his affection for her, Chengjin intends to go to the inn in downtown to visit Xiao, but Chengbi confines her at home.

 

Episode No. 14

        Following Chengbi’s suggestion, Kaitai tries to figure out a way to test Feng’s sincerity about her affection for him. He makes his servant Loach tell Feng that he has been kidnapped by Count Carefree. Hearing this, Feng sets out to rescue Kaitai. It turns out that Feng does meet Count Carefree and gets knocked out. Luckily, Kaitai comes to her rescue in time.

        Xiao tricks Little Master into taking them to Mount Setting-Sun. Then both Xiao and Bijun jump over the edge. Devastated by the news of their death, Chengbi brings flowers to Mount Setting-Sun to mourn the death of his wife. In grief, he throws the Deer Carver off the cliff. He cannot put the saber out of it scabbard anyway. It turns out that Xiao and Bijun are not dead. They are living happily in a hut at the bottom of the mountain.

Chengjin is also saddened by the news of Xiao’s death.

 

Episode No. 15

In order to investigate Tianzan’s background, Chengbi grants Kaitai’s request to marry Feng, and Tianzan is helpless to stop it. On the day of the wedding, Feng hears the news about Xiao’s death on the way to the Yangs’ house. So she breaks away from the wedding procession and rushes to Mount Setting-Sun, wishing to find Xiao or his body.

        On the other hand, the Yangs’ Ranch is burned down and Tianzan is blown up by a bogus Count Carefree, who is played by Snow Eagle in a mask. Kaitai is devastated by the sight of this tragedy. Chengbi frets over his distrust of Tianzan.

 

Episode No. 16

        Upon returning, Feng learns about the tragedy which has befallen the Yangs and decides to stay and help Kaitai.

        Little Master leads Chengbi to the memorial tablet she has erected for Bijun on top of Mount Setting-Sun. Unaware that Little Master has laced the tablet with poison, Chengbi touches the tablet and feels dizzy. Little Master seizes the chance and kicks him over the edge.

        The news of Chengbi’s death infuriates Count Carefree so much that he expels Little Master.

        Xiao and Bijun pull Chengbi out from the lake under the cliff. After regaining consciousness, Chengbi is overjoyed to find Bijun alive and well. His wish to salvage their marriage puts them all in an uncomfortable situation.

        Suspecting that Chengbi has been kidnapped by Count Carefree, Chengjin and Fairy Hawk go to Carefree Cavern to investigate.

 

Episode No. 17

        Fairy Hawk and Chengjin are trapped in Carefree Cavern by Snow Eagle. Devastated by the death of his father, Kaitai loses his mind temporarily. Feng and Loach arrange the funeral of Tianzan for Kaitai. Actually, Tianzan is Count Carefree in disguise. He has faked his own death to lull Chengbi’s suspicions. However, as a loving father, he cannot help appearing as a ghost to encourage Kaitai to pull himself together. After regaining his composure, Kaitail starts to become indifferent to Feng. Once he even threw Feng out of the Yang family’s house. However, Feng perseveres and continues to stay at the Yangs’ Ranch to help Kaitai back to his feet.

        Count Carefree threatens to harm Chengjin if Fairy Hawk cannot find the Deer Carver and Lian Chengbi in a fortnight.

        In order to get rid of Count Carefree, Xiao tries to retrieve the Deer Carver.

        Kaitai has no money to buy fine horses to revive his business. Feng tries to help by taming wild horses in the mountains, but Kaitai finds out about it and tries to stop her from doing so because he thinks it’s too dangerous.

 

Episode No. 18

        Xiao confesses his feelings of insecurity to Bijun. After a long talk, they vow to trust each other forever. Overhearing their conversation, Chengbi is heartbroken and decides that he will do anything to win Bijun back. Xiao leaves the valley to look for the Deer Carver. Chengbi makes Bijun drink tea which is made from Heart-Eroding Grass and laced with his own blood. Then he tells Bijun that if she does not consummate their marriage within ten days, she will die from the poison. Refusing to be threatened, Bijun leaves the valley to look for Xiao, wishing to spend her final days with him.

        Feng helps Kaitai to collect old debts. She is amazingly efficient, but her over-aggressive methods embarrass Kaitai. He is so mad that he demands that Feng stay in her own room. During the night, Kaitai goes into the wild alone, trying to tame wild horses by himself. Feng follows him secretly.

        Little Master leads Bijun to Carefree Cavern to look for Xiao. It happens that Xiao and Fairy Hawk also go to the Cavern. Xiao and Bijun meet there.

 

Episode No. 19

        Xiao and Bijun drink the herbal tea prepared by Susu and pass out. Then they are sent to the Doll Manor. In the manor they are reunited with Green Willow, White Willow, and Lady Shen, whose tendons have been severed by Count Carefree. Green Willow and White willow find that Bijun suffers from the poison of Heart-Eroding Grass, but neither of them can do anything about it. Though equally worried about her condition, Xiao has to pretend that he doesn’t know what’s going on, as he understands Bijun doesn’t want him to know. Meanwhile, Lady Shen is extremely hostile to Xiao, and Bijun is caught in between them.

        Fairy Hawk goes to the Yangs’ Ranch to inquire about Xiao’s whereabouts. Feng is overjoyed to learn that Xiao is still alive, but she is still worried about Xiao’s current situation.

Meanwhile, Xiao works frantically to find a way out of the Doll Manor. Susu tries to alienate Xiao from Bijun by seducing him, but to no avail.

 

Episode No. 20

        Kaitai and Feng go to great lengths to find the Deer Carver at the bottom of the mountain and finally succeed. However, after they return to the Yangs’ Ranch, the saber is stolen.

        Lady Shen forces White Willow and Green Willow to tell her the truth about the poison Bijun suffers. Then she has a talk with Xiao, asking him to take Bijun out of the Doll Manor and escort her back to Chengbi’s side for treatment. Xiao agrees.

        Erquotouan alcoholic and a senior servant of Lian Manor, turns out to be the man who has stolen the Deer Carver at the Yangs’ Ranch. He duplicates the saber and puts the faked one below the oven, where Loach can see the saber easily. Unaware that the saber is a fake, Kaitai and Feng carry it with them to Carefree Cavern. They have a fight with Count Carefree. Xiao, Bijun, and Lady Shen, happen to have found a way to get out of the Doll Manor. They all escape together, but they leave the faked saber in the cavern.

 

Episode No. 21

        Furious to find that the Deer Carver is a fake, Count Carefree vows to destroy Lian Manor. In order to save Bijun, Lady Shen forces Xiao to leave Chengbi and Bijun alone with each other. However, Bijun refuses to consummate their marriage. Chengbi has no choice but to swallow some Heart-Eroding Grass himself and use his own blood as an antidote. Bijun drinks his blood and is saved. However, there is a side-effect; their blood has mixed and their lives and deaths are interwoven. After regaining her consciousness, Bijun leaves Lian Manor with Xiao unaware of the side-effect. Chengbi finally realizes that Bijun will never come back to him. He is heartbroken. Whenever he feels sad, Bijun will feel a heartache as well even though she may be far away physically. Xiao takes her to see the doctor but cannot find out the cause of her illness.

        To confirm their suspicion about the identity of the masked man, who stole the Deer Carver and helped them fight Count Carefree in the Cavern, White Willow and Green Willow use a special type of mild poison on the masked man. After being poisoned, Erguotou uses his internal strength to force out the toxin from the pores of his skin. Because of this, he gets small red dots all over his face. When people in Lian Manor ask about this, he just explains that he is suffering from smallpox.

 

Episode No. 22

        Kaitai wants to pursue his own revenge against Count Carefree, but his responsibility toward the Yangs’ Ranch makes him hesitate. So he returns the Ranch to Chengbi and breaks away from the business empire of the Lian family. Upset by Kaitai’s departure, Chengbi beats him up. Kai leaves the Yangs’ Ranch and stays at Feng’s place temporarily.

        Xiao and Bijun also stay at Feng’s place. Chengjin goes to see them and asks Bijun why she has stolen Xiao from her. Xiao tells Chengjin that he has loved only Bijun from the very beginning. Angered by the truth, Chengjin runs out of the house. In the woods she is kidnapped by Little Master and placed in the bed of Sima Xiang, who is one of Chengbi’s best friends and from another prominent family. Embarrassed by this scandal, Chengbi punishes Chengjin by confining her in the secret glass chamber.

        Xiao lends money to Kaitai to help him start a new business.

        Chengbi sends Jia Xin, the captain of his guards, to trick Bijun into going back to Lian Manor. Kaitai goes with Bijun to protect her, but he is stabbed in the back by Jia Xin on the way.

 

Episode No. 23

Chengbi confines Bijun in a hut in the mountains, but when Xiao comes to Lian Manor to demand that Chengbi let her go, Chengbi blames Count Carefree for Bijun’s disappearance.

        After studying all of the clues, Xiao finds Bijun, who has been weakened from fasting to protest about her confinement. Outraged by what Chengbi did to Bijun, Xiao goes to Lian Manor to challenge Chengbi to a fight. However, he is told by Jia Xin that the poison has linked Chengbi’s and Bijun’s hearts and lives together. That means Xiao can never harm Chengbi. Realizing that Chengbi is using her as leverage against Xiao, Bijun warns Chengbi gravely that if Xiao dies, she will kill herself so that Chengbil will die as well.

        Bijun returns to Shen Manor accompanied by Xiao. Lady Shen is dead against the possibility of their union.

        In order to have his revenge, Chengbi comes up with a most vicious plan which will create a rift between Bijun and Xiao. He asks the Willows to give him the most venomous poison in the world—“It’s the Time.” He puts the poison in tea and tricks Lady Shen into drink it.

        Meanwhile, Chengbi reaches an agreement with Sima Xiang that Xiang will marry Chengjin in three days. Through the marriage Chengbi wishes to secure an alliance with the Sima family and destroy Carefree Cavern with their help.

       

Episode No. 24

        Refusing to accept the marriage Chengbi has arranged for her, Chengjin quarrels with Chengbi, but Chengbi refuses to budge and still continues to confine her to the glass chamber.

        Because of the influence of the poison “It’s the Time”, Lady Shen gets up at midnight every day and wanders around the town like a zombie to kill people randomly. However, she is completely unaware of what’s happening to her.

        Xiao sneaks into Carefree Cavern to study how to unlock the power of the Deer Carver. Before he can figure out anything, Count Carefree returns, and Xiao leaves the saber in the stone before running away. Count Carefree is disappointed to find that he cannot pull the Deer Carver out of the stone.

        Kaitai is still suffering from the stab wound inflicted on him by Jia Xin. Feng takes care of him day and night. Day by day affection grows between them.

        Finding something strange about Lady Shen, Xiao starts to suspect that she is the mad gray-haired woman who prowls around the town killing people during the night.

 

Episode No. 25

        Xiao’s careful analysis convinces Lady Shen that she has been poisoned by Chengbi. Xiao attempts to help her by tying her up with chains, but at midnight Lady Shen becomes incredibly strong. She breaks free and goes out to kill people again. When she comes to herself, Chengbi shows up and confirms that he is the man who has poisoned her. He also reveals that the only way to discontinue this is by cutting off her own head as there is no known antidote for “It’s the Time.” Otherwise, even if she is dead, she will become a zombie and crawl out of the grave to kill.

        Kaitai leaves Feng’s house after she rejects his proposal again. Then he tries to start his own business.

        Lady Shen asks Xiao to help her by beheading her. Xiao is shocked and asks Green Willow and White Willow if there is any other way to solve this problem. But the two old men tell him grimly that there is no other way.

        Meanwhile, Count Carefree sends his subordinates to kidnap Chengjin from the wedding procession.

 

Episode No. 26

        Green Willow feels sorry for Chengjin, so he asks Fairy Hawk to take her away. He knows Fairy Hawk has always loved Chengjin. Then he puts on the bridal dress and veil and steps into the palanquin in her place. On the way they meet Count Carefree’s people. Little Master and Snow Eagle quarrel over their mission, and in anger Snow Eagle kills Little Master. Susu, Little Master’s sister, is very sad. Though she dare not show her grief, she is disheartened by the heartlessness of Count Carefree and the people she works with.

        When Sima finds that the bride is not Chengjin, he returns to Lian Manor and demands an explanation from Chengbi. Chengbi promises that he will investigate the matter.

        White Willow and Green Willow perform the wedding ceremony for Chengjin and Fairy Hawk in a deserted temple in the mountains.

        When Chengbi is not in, Count Carefree leads his men in a furious attack against Lian Manor and destroys Lian Manor and all its affiliated businesses and properties. Erguotou and Sima get out in time.

        After a painful emotional struggle, Xiao finally agrees to relieve Lady Shen of her suffering. They have a long, heartfelt talk before midnight. Xiao promises Lady Shen that he will protect Bijun.

 

Episode No. 27

        Bijun wakes up at midnight as she has an ominous feeling. She gets up to look for Xiao. When Xiao beheads Lady Shen, Bijun happens to arrive at the scene and see it. She passes out from shock.

As Bijun’s and Chengbi’s lives and deaths are interlinked, Xiao dare not tell Bijun the truth as he is afraid that she will attempt to kill Chengbi by killing herself. He has no choice but to leave without telling her the truth.

        After Count Carefree destroyed Lian Manor and all its properties, Chengbi is left homeless and becomes a vagabond.

        Xiao is depressed and drinks alone by the river. Erquotou finds him and asks him why he killed Lady Shen. Xiao refuses to explain.

        Sima goes to see Bijun, asking her to help the Lian family back to its feet. Bijun agrees.

        Susu buries Little Master’s body secretly and keeps the talisman which was given to Little Master by Count Carefree. On the way she meets Chengbi, who has become a homeless vagabond.

 

Episode No. 28

        Chengbi becomes a drunkard and loses the will to fight Count Carefree.

        Erguotou and Xiao sneak into Carefree Cavern, trying to figure out how to activate the power of the Deer Carver. They find that those talismans Count Carefree gave to his apprentices are the keys to unlocking the power of the Deer Carver.

        Xiao steals three of Count Carefree’s talismans and duplicates them. He gives the duplicated keys to Bijun, but she refuses to accept them at first, telling Xiao not to expect her to thank him for this. Feng convinces Bijun to accept them, as she believes Xiao is sincere about helping Bijun.

        Bijun uses the duplicated keys to force Count Carefree to return Lian Manor to her. White Willow and Green Willow encourage Bijun to preside over the restoration project of Lian Manor and pledge to help her in any way they can.

 

Episode No. 29

        Chengjin and Fairy Hawk leave the deserted temple to look for Green Willow and White Willow. On the way they meet Snow Eagle, who was injured by the two old men. Chengjin and Fairy Hawk take care of Snow Eagle. However, when Snow Eagle regains consciousness, he rapes Chengjin, which throws Chengjin and Fairy Hawk into desperation.

        Feng helps Bijun sell her jewelry to Kaitai at a good price so that Bijun can restore Lian Manor. Bijun comes across Chengbi, who is wandering around in the street as a homeless man, but he refuses to go home with her and runs away.

        Fairy Hawk tells Sima that he has married Chengjin. Feeling humiliated, Sima blames Chengbi for this and vows never to have anything to do with Lian Manor anymore.

        Chengbi convinces Susu, who doesn’t want to be loyal to Count Carefree anymore, to work for him instead. He asks Susu to give Xiao and Kaitai the talisman which used to belong to Little Master. He hopes Xiao and Kaitai will get rid of Count Carefree for him.

 

Episode No. 30

        Xiao decides to go to Carefree Cavern alone to challenge Count Carefree. Before going, he goes to see Bijun and wishes her well. Sensing that the struggle between Xiao and him will be deadly, Count Carefree orders Susu to deposit a million taels of gold in the bank Kaitai has just opened. However, Kaitai cannot really focus his attention on the business of the bank. He is intent on going to Carefree Cavern to revenge the death of his father. Loach rushes to Lian Manor to tell Feng about Kaitai’s plan to go to Carefree Cavern. Feng rushes back to the bank, hoping to talk Kaitai and Xiao out of their dangerous mission but to no avail.

        Everybody meets everybody in Carefree Cavern and there is a big fight with Count Carefree. Xiao inserts the four talismans into the stone and pulls out the Deer Carver. The saber starts to shine brilliantly. It turns out that the saber is just like a powerful magnet, which can pull out the iron-made limbs which are required in Count Carefree’s devious system of kung fu. Snow Eagle is killed by the Deer Carver, and Count Carefree’s kung fu is disabled. When Kaitai raises his sword to kill Count Carefree, he happens to slit open Count Carefree’s mask. He is shocked to find that it’s his father Yang Tianzan.

        After Carefree Cavern is destroyed, Xiao returns the Deer Carver to Bijun. Then he packs up and wanders around the country.

 

Episode No. 31

        Chengbi takes away Count Carefree and puts him in a big jar in a yard just next to Kaitai’s house. He threatens to harm Kaitai if Count Carefree refuses to teach him his system of kung fu.

        After burying Snow Eagle, Fairy Hawk feels too ashamed to see Chengjin again, so he decides to leave and wander around the country. Bijun assures Chengjin that Fairy Hawk will return one day.

        Unable to accept the fact that his father and Count Carefree are the same person, Kaitai busies himself in doing hard labor around the house all day to vent his frustration. Not knowing what’s bothering Kaitai, all Feng can do is stay by his side and help to manage the bank.

        Chengjin finds a notebook written by her grandfather and finds that Chengbi is not really a Lian, but an adopted child. Disheartened by what has become of the Lian family, she decides to go out to look for Fairy Hawk.

 

Episode No. 32

        When Chengjin finds Chengbi, she finds him forcing Count Carefree to teach him his kung fu. Afraid that Chengbi will deviate from the right path, Chengjin tells Chengbi about what she read in their grandfather’s notebook. Worried that Chengjin will reveal this secret, Chengbi leads Chengjin to a cliff and pushes her over the edge.

        The next year Kaitai and Feng open a luxurious inn. Susu returns to withdraw the 1 million tales of gold she deposited the year before. Kaitai and Feng are shocked when Susu tells them that the gold is for Xiao.

        To help Bijun raise money for the maintenance of Lian Manor, Feng sells Shen Manor at a good price of 600,000 taels of gold. The buyer is a woman named Bingbing. To express her gratitude, Bijun asks to meet Bingbing at Kaitai’s newly-opened inn. It turns out that Binging is a pregnant woman with blue hair and blue eyes who resembles Chengjin. What’s more, she shows up together with Xiao. However, Xiao seems to become another man. It appears that he has struck a jackpot and become a rich man. In addition, he has become a ruthless killer. Both Feng and Bijun are astonished by Xiao’s transformation.

 

Episode No. 33

        Bijun asks to take back Shen Manor, which she has sold to Bingbing, but Bingbing refuses.

After returning to Lian Manor, Green Willow and White Willow tell Chengbi that a woman named Bingbing resembles Chengjin. Chengbi sneaks into Shen Manor during the night to see whether Bingbing and Chengjin are the same person, but Xiao is well prepared and successfully deceives Chengbi.

Bijun’s nanny recalls some strange words Lady Shen told her before she was killed by Xiao. It appears that Lady Shen left some clues on the gold hairpin which had been given to Bijun by Chengbi as a wedding gift. However, the hairpin has been sold to Bingbing along with the jewelry box.

Bijun gets the hairpin back from Bingbing and finds it covered with Lady Shen’s blood, Bijun exams it closely and figures out that Lady Shen’s death is probably related to Chengbi, but she cannot figure out why Lady Shen had to be decapitated. She asks Green Willow and White Willow to tell her what exactly happened. Fond of Bijun as they are, they refuse to tell her the truth, as their allegiance is with Chengbi.

Chengbi collects some poisonous grass from the deep valley where he pushed Chengjin into. Then he shows the grass to Green Willow and White Willow, asking them whether eating a large amount of it will lead one’s hair and eyes to change color. The two old men confirm his suspicion. After realizing why he is asking about this, the two old men go to see Bingbing and warn her that Chengbi knows that she is really Chengjin.

 

Episode No. 34

        Feng and Kaitai go to Shen Manor together to deliver the check of 1 million taels of gold to Xiao. It happens that Chengbi sneaks into the house to attack Chengjin. As his kung fu is very similar to that of Count Carefree, Kaitai mistakes him for his father for a moment and stops Xiao from killing Chengbi. Though injured, Chengbi manages to get away. However, Chengjin has been attacked and lost her baby. Both Xiao and Chengjin feel sad.

        In order to force Green Willow and White Willow to tell her the truth. Bijun scrapes off some caked poisoned blood from the hairpin, stirs it in water, and then drinks it. It turns out to neutralize the Heart-Eroding Grass poison she suffers from.

        Returning to Lian Manor, Chengbi sucks his servants’ blood to treat his own injury. White Willow and Green Willow finally have their suspicion confirmed that Chengbi has learned Carefree’s evil kung fu. With this realization, they begin to question their blind loyalty to Chengbi.

        After recovering from his injury, Chengbi goes to see Bijun and runs into Xiao, who happens to have come to see Bijun after learning that Bijun will die because of the “It’s the Time” poison she took. Afraid that Chengji will harm Xiao, Bijun pretends to be indifferent to Xiao and asks him to leave. Seeing through her intention, Chengbi is upset and his heart tightens. However, Bijun does not feel anything. Chengbi starts to suspect that Bijun may have found an antidote for her Heart-Eroding Grass poison.

 

Episode No. 35

        Chengbi feigns a heartache to see whether Bijun will fake one too. When his suspicion is confirmed, he is furious. Seeing no reason to pretend anymore, Bijun breaks up with Chengbi officially and attempts to leave Lian Manor.

        Feng cannot understand why Kaitai stopped Xiao from killing Chengbi. Kaitai has no choice but to tell her the fact that Count Carefree is his father. Fuming over Kaitai’s distrust, Feng refuses to talk to Kaitai. Then she is lured away by a young man named Hua Ruyu, who is actually Susu in disguise.

        Xiao and Kaitai are stunned to receive a wedding invitation issued by Feng and Hua Ruyu. Worried about Feng, Xiao and Kaitai start to look for her. Susu tells Feng that Lian has put Bijun under house-arrest. Anxious to save Bijun, Feng and Susu sneak into Lian Manor during the night.

        Overhearing Chengbi’s plan to attack Xiao in three days, Bijun sends her nanny to deliver a message to Xiao, but Chengbi stops them.

        Chengbi orders White Willow and Green Willow to spray poisonous power on the ground around Bijun’s chamber. Feng happens to see it happening when she sneaks into Lian Manor.

 

Episode No. 36

        In order to rescue Bijun, Feng agrees to a phony wedding with Hua Ruyu. Meanwhile, Xiao and Kaitai continue to investigate Hua Ruyu’s background.

        Chengbi carries Bijun to their wedding room and tells her his fierce affection for her, but Bijun is not impressed.

        Chengbi and Bijun attend Feng’s wedding banquet together. Feng thought she is supposed to take advantage of the chance to take Bijun away with her. It turns out that they are both kidnapped by Hua Ruyu’s subordinates and taken to Carefree Cavern.

        At the wedding banquet, Chengbi pretends that he cannot find Bijun and claims that his wife has been kidnapped by Xiao. Then he announces to the guests present at the banquet that he will offer a generous reward for anyone who kills Xiao.

        Bijun’s nanny goes to ask Xiao for help. Xiao and Kaitai figure out that Bijun and Feng have been taken to Carefree Cavern. When they get there, they find Feng chained to the wall and Bijun kept in an iron coffin the interior of which is studded with nails.

 

Episode No. 37

        To cut the steel chains which hold Feng or open the iron box which confines Bijun, Xiao and Kaitai need the Deer Carver. They have no choice but to go to Lian Manor and look for the saber..

        Fairy Hawk finally returns to Lian Manor to see Chengjin. Chengbi tells him that Bingbing is Chengjin. However, her mind has been messed up by Xiao’s poison and she cannot recognize him anymore. Furthermore, she is so ill that she will certainly die within a year. Fairy Hawk is outraged and vows to kill Xiao.

Chengbi feeds Bijun, but she refuses to eat.

        Erquotou gets to Lian Manor first and steals the Deer Carver from Chengbi’s study, unaware that the saber has been covered with poison. After fighting back the guards, he passes out. But Green Willow and White Willow save him.

 

Episode No. 38

        Learning about how Chengbi is torturing Bijun, Green Willow and White Willow are outraged and give the Deer Carver to Erquotou. Xiao, Kaitai, and Erquotou enter Carefree Cavern again. Erquotou says the password to enter the cavern. When Xiao hears the password Erquotou uses to open the door of the secret chamber in the cavern, he is stunned. This special password is taught to him by his father when he was little. After rescuing Bijun and Feng, Xiao figures out a way to trick Erquotou into admitting that he is his father.

        Bingbing reveals her true identity to Bijun and tells her what has happened to her in the past few months.

        Feng finally accepts Kaitai’s proposal, and Kaitai goes home happily to make preparations for the wedding.

 

Episode No. 39

        Everyone is happy that Xiao and his father are finally reunited.

        Suspecting that Green Willow and White Willow are no longer absolutely loyal to him, Chengbi expels them from Lian Manor. They come to Shen Manor to stay with Erguotou.

        Loach spots a pair of eyes peeping through a hole in the wall of the yard. Out of curiosity he climbs over the wall and finds Count Carefree. After Loach tells him about this, Kaitai climbs over the wall to see his father.

        Chengbi threatens to harm Kaitai if Count Carefree does not agree to switch his blood with his own, as Chengbi needs to neutralize the Heart-Eroding Grass poison in his body to break free from the control Bijun’s blood has over his life. After the blood transfer is completed, he sends Count Carefree away. When Kaitai takes Feng to see Count Carefree, he is sad to see only a letter left to him.

        After obtaining the blood transfusion from Count, Chengbi finds his internal strength dramatically boosted. Encouraged by his newly-gained strength, Chengbi goes to Shen Manor to challenge Xiao to a duel.

        Xiao arranges for Bijun and Bingbing to stay at Feng’s house, but Chengbi finds out their whereabouts and captures them. Chengbi knocks out Bingbing and then tells Fairy Hawk that she was injured by Xiao. Fairy Hawk is furious and vows to kill Xiao for revenge.

 

Episode No. 40

        Chengbi shows Bingbing a handkerchief stained with blood which he claims belongs to Fairy Hawk. He also tells Bingbing that if she refuses to help him get rid of Xiao, Fairy Hawk is doomed. After reluctantly stabbing Xiao, Chengjin is whisked away by Susu. Then Fairy Hawk comes and stabs Xiao as well. Bijun arrives in time to save Xiao. They escape to a hut and rest there for the night.

        Fairy Hawk finds Chengjin and finds out that they have been both deceived by Chengbi. Then they ask Sima to deliver the Deer Carver to Xiao.

        Xiao and Chengbi have a duel. With the help of the Deer Carver, Xiao defeats Chengbi and kills him.

        Feng and Kaitai finally get married. Xiao and Bijun live happily ever after.
